Post-screening Q&A panel discussion featuring Dr. Michael Moncure, MD, FACS, UMKC Professor of Surgery, as well as Brian Hearn, curator and arts writer, KC Studio.

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art Reel to REAL film-and-dialogue series is screening the documentary, Dr. Feelgood: Dealer or Healer? on March 17 at 1pm. This film focuses on Dr. William Hurwitz, a Virginia physician, who served nearly five years in prison for drug trafficking after prescribing powerful opiate painkillers to his devoted patients. Unlike the courts, filmmaker Eve Marson refuses to take a clear position on the case — hence the enticing question mark in the title.

To discuss the effects of the growing opioid epidemic will be Dr. Michael Moncure, MD, FACS, UMKC Professor of Surgery and Brian Hearn, curator and arts writer, KC Studio.
